Structural analysis of pure PtCu3 nanoparticles synthesized by modified Polyol process

The development of effective multi-functional Pt-based nanoparticles (NPs) with enhanced activity, stability, and reduced cost for advanced applications still remains a challenge. In this study, Pt(acac)2 Cu(OAc)2 metal precursors were to form Pt-Cu NPs at 140 °C in ethylene glycol sodium borohydride that is secondary reducing agent the modified polyol method. x-ray diffraction (XRD) Rietveld refinement analyses confirmed face-centered cubic PtCu3 structure space groups Fm3 ̅m lattice constant a=b=c=3.6829 Å. average crystal size was found be 2.76 nm by Scherrer's formula. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images confirm formation monodisperse an 8.04 within narrow range 5-13 nm. While energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis composition formed 26% Pt 74% Cu atoms XRD EDS impurity, by-products, oxidation free formation.
